Dr Sophie Boldon is the Deputy Director for Science Capability in the Government Office for Science. She is focused on building a more scientific Civil Service by connecting people, improving capability, and setting standards for a science-enabled government. This includes overseeing the Government Science and Engineering Profession, ensuring effective science systems and processes across HMG including academic engagement, supporting and developing the network of CSAs, and supporting the Government Chief Scientific Adviser to independently advise on topics such as the 2025 spending review. She has previously worked in several government departments and the Royal Society of Chemistry.
