The venue

The Festival of Higher Education will take place at the iconic Senate House.

When Senate House was completed in 1937, it was London’s tallest building apart from St Paul’s Cathedral. Today, it still towers above its leafy surroundings in Bloomsbury.

The iconic skyscraper is a Grade II listed heritage site, whose styling expresses architect Charles Holden’s fascination with both Art Deco and Modernist design.

The building has a storied history, having been used by the Ministry of Information during World War II. It has also featured in numerous blockbuster films and acclaimed TV dramas, including Batman, No Time to Die, 1984, and BBC series The Bodyguard. It was named as one of Conde Nast Traveller’s must-visit film locations.

The festival will take place across many of Senate House’s unique spaces, which are being re-imagined to bring the event to life.
